Cleanse your face twice a day,right?

I do not like to discuss this topic too much, because too many people do not wash their faces before bed to begin with.( yuck!!)

Cleanse and Moisturize, skip the Toner?

Last week it was brought to my attention that dermatologists  and make up guru’s are saying that TONERS are not necessary. In Marie Claire magazine ” Top 10 skin Myths”, Dr Ranella Hirsch in Myth 1: Cleanse, Tone & Moisturizer has been the mantra  we have followed for as long as we have been washing out own faces.  She stated:Feel FREE to skip the second step.”People think that toning an oily complexion will make it better,but oil is protective and the body produces it in response to injury” When you strip your skin of moisturizing oils ,it reacts by producing more oil.   As a licensed Esthetican it is true, I wish I could get ths into the heads of my friends or clients who have oily skin, to moisturize, moisturize,moisturize. If you stop, your body is only going to produce more to compensate for the lack of moisturiser. That said, what about the other types of skin?

After thinking about this for a couple of days, here is my personal opinion, I would LOVE for you to chime in with your own opinions on this topic. Do you use a toner? If so how do you use your toner? Do you see or feel a difference?   I do use a toner, Votre Vu calls it Tonic and it does not as many toners do not CONTAIN ALCOHOL. It is not in a spray bottle so I pour a small amount into my hands, and like men with after shave I pat it all over my face then follow with my serum and moisturizers.

I do believe that toning no matter what your skin type helps to bring the Ph level back to 5.5 and it may help to remove any residual cleanser or grim from your face.  NOTE:  I am going to go with out using my tonic from tomorrow thru Monday, I will write about my findings on Monday.

I bought a new Dress.

Before the Re Dress to my blog arrives, I do not believe that I have mentioned the above photo.

The photo that is my header, is my Mom’s family. I am evenly split down the middle between my Italian heritage and my Irish heritage. Dad is Italian and Mom is Irish.

This photo is my Irish Grandmother Mc Manus, my Moms sister’s Eileen and Mary and my Moms sister in law Claire. The photo is from the day Mom graduated from High School.

They will be removed soon to make way for the new dress.
